Club Mentors

Stockley Davis – 4th Dan and Club Founder

Stockley Davis is the founding member of UWA Judo Club. He has remained active in the club throughout its history, spending 20 years as a UWA Judo Club coach in the early days of the club. He has been instrumental in developing the club’s international exchange program, the engagement with Southern Asia initiatives, the Schools2Dojo and elite judo programs. Stockley is the current president of the UWA Judo Club.

Eugene McManus – 5th Dan

Eugene is the loveable rogue of the UWA Judo Club. He is a former judo Olympian, representing Ireland at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Eugene has a wealth of judo knowledge and experience, which he is always happy to share with our younger judoka whilst having a bit of craic.

Dae-In Cha – 3rd Dan

Dae-In is a well loved and highly respected member of the UWA Judo Club. He first joined the club in 2010 and served as club president from 2012 to 2014. He also served as the secretary of Judo WA from 2014 to 2016. He generously offers his time mentoring UWA judoka whilst juggling the commercial demands of his business Transborders Energy.

Peter Cooper – 2nd Dan

Peter has been a member of the UWA Judo Club since 1996 and served as club president between 2007 to 2009. He has also served as club secretary between 2010 to 2014. He’s been a true constant at the club, steadfast and dependable; a friendly face always ready to help.

Frankie Rawlings – 1st Dan

At 76 years of age, Frankie’s enthusiasm and huge smile is nothing but an inspiration to his fellow judoka. Frankie is still actively training, he’s a long-term fixture of the club and has supported the development of countless players over his time.

Kai Png – 1st Dan

Kai started his judo career at UWA Judo Club in 2008. Since then, he has gone on to win 7 national titles between 2010 to 2017. He recently completed a prestigious scholarship at the University of Tskuba to further his university studies and practice judo. Kai is a fantastic role model and mentor to our younger elite judoka.

Danny Wong – 1st Dan

Danny is a regular face at the UWA Judo Club. He’s always on the mat training for the next competition, or as a training partner for our aspiring judoka. Danny lives and breathes all things judo.

Darcina Manuel – 1st Dan

Darcina joined UWA Judo Club in 2008. During her time at the club she won a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in the -57kg category and placed 9th at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Darcina now resides in Queensland but continues to mentor and support UWA Judo judoka in Perth and on their worldwide travels.
